this experience is 5 star. the lodge, the location, the guides and the crew are all AWESOME. I have been there 3x over the last 11 years and have thoroughly enjoyed each visit 2 antelope and one buffalo so far. will be going out in the next season or two for an elk.
Very nice Lodge, good food, good service, and good guides. Excellent antelope hunting. Had a great stay and would return.
ATTENTION ALL DEVOUT HUNTERS: 'Have hunted all over God's Green Earth and this is yet another absolute treasure trove of nature to hunt (in this case, where the high plains meet the rocky mountains!) It's quite a task to boil down into a summary, but in-short, the Reese's have approximately 200,000 acres of Wyoming's finest, best managed, and perfectly staffed ancestral ranchlands surrounded by parklands for you to hunt undisturbed Big mule deer, antelope, buffalo, elk, and even Huge whitetails-all while enjoying one of the most pristine natural environments with historical monuments still standing...You have no idea what you'll see over the crest of the next mountain and the scenery is never the same. If you think it's just a big field of game to shoot, you are sadly mistaken. There are high, rocky mountains with cliffs to overlook the myriad, deep wooded draws below, tree-lined river valleys, croplands, and butte-lined grasslands, just to name a few. Free-range hunting with no high fences (The Way it should Be!!!!!) All that said, perhaps one of the nicest testaments to all who work the Rockin' 7 is that they listen to you and accommodate your personal needs and wishes (i.e. spot-and-stalk, stands, short distances for the young, aged or disabled, special dietary needs, etc. etc.-All administered with a HUGE dose of love, understanding, and humanity!!!) I was honored to have arrived a tad early and overhear a guide's meeting being conducted and was simply amazed by their focus on client service and excellence in hunting results (for the relatively short season and limited number of clients they can accept each year without compromising results now and into the future.) Admittedly, I did see two other hunters take much bigger mulies, and the guide and I saw the Biggest (30"+) mule deer (running straight away at 35 MPH, 700 yards distant) after a buck antelope got our wind and alerted the lead does,) but "that's why they call it Hunting, Not Shooting!" The management, the accomodations (is there a term better than 1st Class?), the guides, butcher shop and range staff, and other ranch hands are among the nicest, most down-to-earth, helpful and hospitable people in America. While it is true that you get what you pay for, in this rare instance these days, ALL at the Rockin 7 give 200% to their customers, and the proof is in the pudding, as posted above!!! A very wise Mennonite neighbor to our family farm once told me as a child that I should always strive to buy the finest quality as it's far more expensive to make the wrong decision, fail and have to purchase it all over again (and again!) If you want to experience a real-deal Western hunt, you need to contact Shauna & Joel at the Rockin 7. You may wish to request Darrell, but ALL of the guides I met and saw in action were trained for success (and they cross-train to ensure a high level of performance by all). In the week I was at the Rockin 7, both young and old tagged out at 100%, and plenty shared stories around the dinner tables of prior, very expensive hunts elsewhere with results averaging 0%. I never ran into another hunter while afield (not too hard to imagine with 8 hunters spread out over 200,000 ac.) As an example, it took between 0.5 and 1.5 hrs for some to make it to their hunting areas each day, from the lodge! Save your $, fly non-stop to Denver, arrive with your gear, and drive up (it's 2.5 hours north through some of the most beautiful country in the nation; Rocky Mountain and Medicine Bow National Parks!) If you forget anything, there are plenty of outdoor stores along the way in Denver, Ft. Collins, and Cheyenne!) Thanks for a super great time. I brought my granddaughter to hunt her very first Buffalo (in fact she never hunted any animal before). The guide was very understanding and never rushed her. He was very informative and helped all along the way. The shot was far and difficult, but during all that the guide was encouraging and assisted with telling her the range and giving her confidence that she could make the shot. Through the whole hunt my granddaughter and my self experienced a lasting memory that we will have as long as we both will live. Thanks for a great hunt and a great time Julietta Longiotti Bill longiotti Sent from my U.S.Cellular© Smartphone
My father and I were guided by Sam, he was great at finding a nice size Bison for me. The food was excellent, we always had more than enough to eat. The lodge was clean and comfortable. My next trip will be with my family. I highly recommend this ranch.
