Crystal Ranch Lodge & Resort

I had the unfortunate experience of visiting this ranch, located deep in the middle of the High Uintahs, and I must say, it was an absolute disaster. The fencing on the property is poorly maintained—none of it is properly posted, which is both a safety hazard and a huge inconvenience. To make matters worse, when I had an issue and tried to sort it out, the ranch manager called the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) to try and get me into trouble, even though I wasn’t doing anything wrong! Not only is the property unkempt, but the owner's attitude is rude and unprofessional. I would strongly recommend avoiding this place if you value your time and safety.

This is the ultimate fly-fishing vacation destination. My father and I traveled from New York to get away for 3 days of fishing you just can't get on the east coast and boy did the Crystal Ranch team deliver. The Yellowstone River and its surrounding waters offer every scenario a fly angler could want and our guide (Lane) went above and beyond to ensure that we got to experience all of it. And at the end of the day, sharing stories by the outdoor fireplace with nothing but the sound of the rushing river in the background is the perfect way to wind down. I am so incredibly grateful to the team and if you're looking for a fly fishing vacation, this is THE place to go. I am itching to go back.

My brother and I were quite deceived with our experience at Crystal Ranch. After driving in from a week-long fly fishing journey in Wyoming, we were faced with a large smoke cloud coming from a 200 mile wide fire at Yellow Lake. The disregard for customer safety was a top concern for us as no disclosure of the fire was made to us. Needless to say, we were quite surprised after finishing our 6 hour drive only to discover soot and ash-filled skies. We stayed one night and left promptly the next morning out of heath concern. No refunds were made and Dave Ludlow & Lane Nygren stopped returning our calls in the days and weeks to follow. We’re extremely avid fly fishermen and were disappointed by the shocking lack of client service in an industry where the client is at the core. Our trip at Crystal Ranch Lodge was one of the most memorable trips our family has taken. The setting of the lodge along the Yellowstone River at the foot of the mountains is incredible. The fly fishing was the best we've experienced and we have been to many fishing destinations. The guides were awesome and even got our 5-year old son into some beautiful fish on a fly rod- which totally exceeded our expectations.

Relaxing and welcoming lodge with all the amenities and spectacular views. Our guide Lane was amazing. Sometimes I thought there were two of him on the water! Got us to great spot after great spot and taught us so much about reading waters and working the water.
