Wayne was an incredible driver. He got us up really close to the Buffalo and prairie dogs while also telling the history of the park very well. Bonus points for telling us the best way to get out of the park to avoid the most backups being we were going to the stampede later in the week. This tour takes you all around the park plus gets you in places you can’t with your private vehicle. Highly recommend doing this when you’re in the area!
Our adventure in Custer State Park was nothing short of spectacular, thanks to our guide, Rich, who made the experience both memorable and enriching. His expertise and enthusiasm shone through as he shared fascinating insights about the park’s wildlife and history, bringing the landscape to life. Navigating the bumpy roads in a rugged, open-air vehicle, we felt completely safe under Rich’s skilled guidance, even as we ventured close to the massive buffalo that roam the park. These majestic creatures are truly awe-inspiring—enormous, powerful, and commanding respect. Rich wisely cautioned us to keep our distance and avoid foolish antics like trying to take selfies with them, as some reckless visitors have done. Buffalo are not to be underestimated! The tour was an incredible value for the price, offering a front-row seat to the park’s stunning vistas and wildlife. Blankets were thoughtfully provided, a welcome touch since late August brought a slight chill to the air. The campsite we visited was a highlight, teeming with buffalo that seemed to own the land, reminding us that we were merely guests in their domain. This unforgettable experience, filled with natural beauty and Rich’s stellar guidance, is a must-add to any bucket list. Highly recommend exploring Custer State Park with Rich for an adventure that’s both thrilling and humbling!
We thoroughly enjoyed this jeep ride. Wayne, our guide was superb at giving us lots of history. He had a wonderful relaxed demeanor and truly seems like he loves his part time gig! We saw lots of buffalo up VERY close, longhorns, prairie dogs and turkey. Wayne took some off road adventures looking for elk. Although we did not spot any of these elusive creatures the views were stunning. Highly recommend a private tour with Buffalo Safari Tours and Wayne! We were able to ask lots of questions and get a good idea of routes, hikes and other amazing things to do in Custer State Park.
Well worth the money! We saw so many animals, many more than I saw just driving around myself. Roger was our tour guide and he did a great job. We enjoyed his stories about the park and the area. We saw buffalo up close and it was amazing! He really knew all the good spots to check out.
Alan was a great driver and had lots of information about the park history and the animals. Very funny and fun to be around. Saw lots of wildlife including buffalo, pronghorn, deer, and prairie dogs. Cookout food was great and the live music was great entertainment. All the staff were very kind and helpful. The views were incredible and getting up close to the buffalo was a cool experience.
