⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A hidden gem for animal lovers and families! We had such a heartwarming visit to Bill and Melissa’s farm! From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcome — Bill and Melissa are truly kind and passionate people who clearly adore every animal in their care. The farm is home to the sweetest alpacas (so soft and gentle!), a beautiful llama, playful goats, curious chickens and chicks, several cows, friendly dogs, and even a small pony that’s treated like royalty. One of the most touching parts of our visit was meeting their horse with PTSD — it’s clear how much love and attention goes into helping all these animals feel safe and cared for. This is such a special place to bring kids or enjoy a peaceful day with animals. Don’t miss the little souvenir shop! They have lovely alpaca-themed items and gifts you can take home. Highly recommend visiting — it’s a place that will stay with you long after you leave. Thank you, Bill and Melissa, for all you do! 🦙🐐🐴❤️

I celebrated my birthday at Herd It Here Farm back in February, and months later, my friends and I still talk about what a fun and memorable experience it was! The hosts were so kind, welcoming, and full of interesting info about all the animals—alpacas, goats, chickens, mini Highland cows… we were in heaven. And for anyone thinking a farm tour is just for kids—definitely not! Our group of adults had an absolute blast. It was the perfect mix of wholesome, relaxing, and just plain fun. Such a great way to spend time together and do something a little different. After the tour, we hit the farm store and left with some seriously cute stuff—especially the alpaca socks. One of the alpacas, Gidget, totally won us over, so now we all call them our “Gidget socks.” 😂 If you’re anywhere near Cottageville (super close to Charleston), I can’t recommend this place enough. It’s a great little outing for families, couples, or friend groups—and you’ll be supporting a really awesome small business. I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better birthday.

I really can’t say enough great things about this host. They were amazing with communicating logistics. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted by not only our host, but by Eddie the mini donkey, who became the sweetest pasture buddy. We were given a tour of the farm and got to learn a lot about the alpacas. We were given the opportunity to feed the animals and even got to brush some of the goats and one of the sweet baby cows. The shop had some really lovely goats milk soaps that smelled amazing. We even got help with building our camp fire and received a really sweet gift from our hosts. I can’t recommend this lovely farm enough. Truly the kindest hosts we’ve ever encountered.

This is the most adorable farm ever! Tons of sweet and well-cared for animals on the farm. Our host, Melissa, did a fantastic job explaining about the animals, the caretaking work needed around the farm, and the various personalities of the animals. We got to meet many of the animals and even got to feed the alpacas, who are the most adorable animals ever. Well worth the drive for this visit!
