Almost Heaven is the gold standard for upland bird hunting. Everything is first class from the facility to the food which is 5 diamond quality. The guides and dogs a please to watch and hunt over.

Can't say enough great things about this place. I have been on two quail hunts and both have been first rate experiences. I took my son on my last hunt, and Scott and Sammy did a tremendous job of providing instruction and tips on bird hunting. I really enjoy their approach to active hunting for birds, as opposed to just shooting birds. I learn so much from these trips ands watching their dogs work is worth the trip alone. Misses Robin, Morgan and Tracey provide first rate hospitality.

We recently completed our 3rd annual Father/Son Quail hunt at Almost Heaven Plantation and have already started looking at dates for next year’s hunt! From the moment you arrive, the rest of the world melts away. The main house is a beautiful log cabin, fit with a pool table, shuffleboard, couches and game mounts from all over. Here you enjoy meals and meet the guides discuss safety and the hunt ahead. We haven’t had a bad meal yet from any of the chefs, but you are in for a treat if Mrs. Julie is cooking for you! (Psst - her shrimp creole is amazing!) Mr. Warren and Ms. Morgan are likely to join you during a meal or two, quickly becoming friends, sharing stories and a tip or two for the hunt. We look forward to the conversations and appreciate how they make us feel welcomed and at home, not like just another customer. The main lodging can’t be beat, with plenty of room to socialize, yet still escape for a much need rest with the comfort of home and private bathrooms in each room. A stocked fridge with drinks, snacks and coffee for the morning are available and any special requests will be accommodated. This year, we arrived in the afternoon and headed out to the skeet range to get our eyes trained on flying birds. This was a new start for us and will become a constant. Just an hour on the range proved to help tremendously - with quick tips from the team while shooting at various targets. DON’T SKIP ON THIS!!!! Your hunts will be more successful, and you’ll be thankful that you did it. Of course, I must mention Mr. Scott and the guide team, as they have been nothing short of excellent through all our hunts. Always accommodating, coaching, and ensuring we are doing all we can to have a successful hunt. Watching the dogs work is one of our favorite parts of the hunt, and Mr. Scott and the team have put a lot of work and care into making sure the dogs are top notch. Each year, we’ve achieved our limit - and the dogs had us on far more birds than we could have imagined. We haven’t ventured into the fishing option, yet, but I am sure it will come soon. Don’t skip over Almost Heaven Plantation - it lives up to its name.

This is where lifelong memories are made. If you’re into fishing and game, this place is your mecca. You’ll see more quail in a day than most people see in a lifetime. We received a quick tour of the 90 acre pond and boat house. With a couple a glances I saw several toaster sized bass. The Hylton family lives on site and ensures that your experience is world class. The lodging is top of the line and the staff is there for your every need. Chef Russel and his team will knock you out meal after meal. Perfect location for family, friends, a solo trip, or corporate event. Counting the days until i can return…and dreaming about those bass until then.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Almost Heaven Plantation. The accommodations and food were excellent. The fishing and clay shooting were wonderful. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We are anxious to return to visit the friends we made during our visit.
