Had a guided cow elk hunt with Gordon in January and had a great experience with my two guides even though no elk were harvested. The guides were professional and great to work with. I look forward to future hunts with Broken Horn. Wayne

Went on a two day hunt with Broken Horn and have to say I was very impressed. The night before the hunt Gordon set up a solid strategy to have hunters pushing through where Bulls had been seen that night into hunters who were going to be sitting glassing. I personally was sitting and didn't see elk but the hunters pushing into the location got into elk. It was a great hunt for both sides. The hunting was fun and the atmosphere in the cabin was a great time! Even though I was unable to get on to Elk I had a great time and would recommend Broken Horn Outfitters to anyone!

My wife hunted with Mike(one of Gordon's guides) at Broken Horn Outfitters this year (2023) on a private LOP Bull Elk Hunt. This was my wife's first guided hunt, and she was super excited and nervous! I can't say enough about Gordon and his staff. They are super professional, have good ecomodations, nice equipment and work super hard for their clients. The weather was crazy warm, and the bulls were not moving much.. but Mike and Gordon went the extra mile to get my wife on a great bull elk. Unfortunatley she missed, but to no fault of Mike or the staff, just excited first time elk hunter! Being a retired guide myself, I would HIGHLY recommend Broken Horn and Mike for an elk hunt. They know their ground and where the animals like to move, which is half the battle! Eventhough my wife wasn't successful, she had a great time and will be back hunting with them again soon!!

As a first time hunter I wanted to have a full and fun experience hunting so scheduled a guided hunt with Broken Horn Outfitters. My experience was less then enjoyable spent a whole day not seeing any elk, then went out a second day for several hours also did not see any elk. I understand that sometimes that happens and that comes with hunting, but we were told when a good time was to come and that is what we did. The customer service we received from Gordon when the question was asked about us coming back and trying again at a better time at no charge since we did not see any elk even though we were told a ton of elk supposedly had been spotted on the camera's. The answer was no Gordon was more concerned with making money then giving his customers the best experience possible. It's unfortunate it, I will not and do not recommend this outfitters.

FULLY GUIDED Rut Archery Elk Hunt 2020 - $5,000 This outfit is a joke. I paid for a fully guided archery elk hunt, and was guided by the owner Gordon Conroy. This man acts like he’s never elk hunted in his life. The morning hunts consisted of him being the last to roll out of bed, and us pulling up to where we were hunting AFTER daylight. At 8am, Gordon would be headed back to the truck. Done for the day. Some days he’d let me continue on hunting for a few hours by myself, and he’d pick me up. This man used his wind checker ONE time in a whole week and could barely hike a mile. After the morning hunt we’d come back to camp, for lunch. Gordon would take a nap, instead of finding his clients elk for the afternoon hunt. Zero effort in putting his clients on animals. At 3pm he would assign me to a tree stand or blind for a few hour sit, completely missing the majority of the day. He would send me into an area, by myself, with the wind at my back blowing my scent into the area I would be sitting. Regarding safety, I was provided a harness that was probably 20 years old, with some tubular webbing that was tied to a carabiner which I’m guessing was their idea of a safety rope. There was no way to be connected to the tree while climbing. Which everyone knows, 90% of falls happen climbing up and down, not sitting. On the second to last day, I left the cabin at 5am, before Gordon woke up. I figured I’d have more luck hunting on my own. After being insulting and THREATENED via text message. I returned to the lodge pack my belongings and leave the outfit, got a hotel in Bend, to take an early flight home to Georgia… This was a rut archery elk hunt, and I didn’t hear ONE bugle. I saw ONE elk, when I was hunting, BY MYSELF. On a “fully guided hunt”. Before I left town, I visited the public land hunters at the camp 1/4 of a mile from this outfit. They had already killed two bulls and a cow, with photos to prove it. Broken Horn Outfitters had clients hunting ALL archery season, and hadn’t even had a client draw back on an elk. Not even a cow elk. These people make their money off of rifle cow elk hunts. They shove 5 grown men in a diesel pickup truck and drive around the property until the spook up a group of cows, and shoot them at 600 yards. They do this from August-March. By the time archery rolls around, all the elk are shellshocked. Gordon tried to take this same “hunting” approach with my archery hunt. 5 grown men in a diesel truck, trying to SNEAK within 50 yards of a mature bull… Good luck… After this whole experience, Gordon Conroy and KC refused to refund even a dime of my money. I highly discourage anyone from using this outfitter. If you can even call it one. I’ve been informed that multiple people have had similar complains every year, and even some legal complaints. If anyone is interested in more of the story, I will gladly give you my full testimony. Happy hunting.
