Black Mountain Hunts, LLC

My father and I had an appointment with Black Mountain Hunts LLC for a pig hunt. We arrived around 8 a.m. and each paid $400 (a total of $805 with tax) upfront for one pig each, with checkout set for 4 p.m. By 1 p.m., neither of us had fired a single round. I didn’t even see a pig, and my dad only saw a few running in the distance—but we were told under no circumstances were we allowed to shoot at moving targets. It was an extremely hot day, which was especially tough on my 80-year-old father. We understand the weather isn’t in anyone’s control, but when I explained that we were leaving early due to the heat and lack of activity, I specifically asked about a refund or at least a partial refund. Both owners were standing there and told me flat-out NO. On top of that, the setup is a joke. Out of all the feeder locations, there was only one single tree stand and one blind. That’s it. We noticed some equipment on the ground, but nothing set up or usable. For the amount of money they charge, the lack of upkeep and preparation is ridiculous. And to make things worse, the brochures displayed in their own lodge must be way outdated. They clearly state: Package One: One-day hog hunt, one hog any size, no lodging included — $275 per hunter. Yet here we are being charged $400 each plus tax. That’s a huge jump with no explanation, especially when the quality of the hunt has gone downhill. This is unacceptable. We’ve never been to a hunt where not a single shot was fired and no opportunities arose, yet no consideration was given for even a partial refund. What makes this worse is that this was not our first time here. On my dad’s last visit with my brother, only my brother fired at a pig—and he alone was charged. My dad, who did not shoot, wasn’t charged at all. So what changed? This was our third and FINAL trip here. To charge full price for a complete failure of an experience, with poor facilities, no upkeep, outdated/bogus pricing, and owners unwilling to show even the slightest goodwill, is just not right. We will NOT be returning, nor will we recommend Black Mountain Hunts LLC to anyone.

Snuck in to cover a cancelation and got the whole place to myself. I was very impressed with the ranch. Great bunk house clean and everything you would expect to find in a hotel. A quick ride on a atv put me in the middle of hogs. Lots of hogs all diffrent sizes from meat pigs to legit monsters. Great stands big feeders lots of trails for easy spot and stalk. Ended up taking to good hogs and seeing several really large hogs with real good cutters. The owners where super nice and very helpful. I'd recommend this place for sure I'll be heading back for certain. Wear good hiking boots, they named it black mountain for a reason.

Whether you are a hunting novice or a hunting legend, this place is perfect. You want heavily wooded, flat terrain? They have it. You want moss covered rocky terrain reminiscent of parts of Colorado? They have that as well. Rifle, Archery, Spear, etc. Do yourself a favor and book a hunt!

First time hunting with the Paxton family, but certainly not the last! We had a great hunt, they were very accommodating, and looking forward to our next hunt on the Black Mountain ranch!

I came here for a two-day hog hunt for my birthday and on my birthday got a hog! We caught a huge catfish made a very excellent dinner! This was a very relaxing trip had a wonderful time looking forward to doing it again the staff is wonderful! Very helpful! We loved everything about the place!
