2024. Worse hunting in over 45 yrs hunting whitetail 2 hunters. Saw 3 does and 2 spike Food. Garbage. We cooked most of our own Blinds junk. Stands junk. No feed at all in feeders Treated us like 2nd class citizens I’m a Vietnam veteran. Found out the whole season they only shot a few does for meet. Lodge so so Total waste of our vacation time and money Tot
I just got back from a 3 day hunt at OWRO and I gotta say it was one of the best hunting experiences of my life. We were on a beautiful reservation that was basically a deer sanctuary. I lost count of the number of deer i saw. As far as im concerned this was the holy grail of whitetail hunts. But i had just as much fun after the hunts, warming up and relaxing in the cozy cabin. We spent our nights watching hunting shows and eating delicious food. The hospitality was top notch. Kyle took care of everything. I also enjoyed studying the map with Kyle, planning and strategizing my hunts based on the wind. It was refreshing working with an ethical, like minded hunter. I'd like to share an experience i had one night. It was right before last light and a group of 5 bucks came into view. One of them was a true monster. A buck of a lifetime! I was able to watch them for several minutes before they finally walked off into the darkness. Unfortunately they never gave me a shot. But the experience left me emotional and shaking like a leaf on a tree! I was feeling heartbroken and frustrated for not taking the shot. But i felt better after talking to Kyle. He assured me that I did the right thing by not taking a shot I wasn't comfortable with. Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back. And hopefully I get another shot at that monster.
This was my first, going to a Whitetail outfitter. Tony and Kyle made you feel like it was your own camp. You could laugh, goof off, crack jokes at one another and no one took it personal! Tony “Macaroni” cooked very good home style meals!! When comes to hunting, this is there first season at the Southern Lodge! We did not know what to expect! We had 15+ shooter bucks, all above 140”! Did we see them, No! But the reality is, it’s hunting!! These deer aren’t fenced up and are roam do as they would in natural! They hide, that why they are that big! We did see a lot of deer everyday and seen a lot of young bucks! Also hunting the 3rd week of October, the strategy of hunting big bucks is different, there mentality is being smart and stealth! This outfitter offers over 20 plus treestands to be in! Matter of fact, you can choose which one you want or they will recommend where they want you due to deer activity and where the 120” bucks and bigger are being seen most frequent!! You can’t go out there expecting 5 monster bucks to walk to your stand everyday! That doesn’t anywhere, unless your sitting in a bed of truck, in a 200 acres cage, waiting for the feeders and gate to open as the “tree looking antlers” walk up to you like your hand feeding them! Again, Ohio Whitetail Ridge Outfitters is a “HUNTING” property! 1000 acreage of beautiful woods, timber, lake/pond, tons of natural feed such as acorns and apples, along with adjacent corn fields! They do have food plots and feeders that provide the deer with the best nutrition for antler growth!! Our group is returning in November 2022 and giving it other try! If anything, the 4 enjoyed the time away from work life and society! It was a time to clear your mind, relax, laugh, and just simply enjoy yourself! Sorry Scott for Not giving you 4 stars! Actually I would say, 4.5 stars! Only reason, No Trophy Buck to bring home! Again, I don’t blame the Outfitter Crew, they “Big Bucks” are there! You just have No control of there movement and behavior! See you guys soon!!! Be prepared for ball busting at its finest!!
Great hunting experience, there's big bucks there, it's free range so anything can happen. I had two opportunities for my buck of a lifetime, two clean misses, so note check your scope and equipment every day before hunting, a dead battery and a scope slightly off , lessons learned. Scott, Matt, Ms. Jennifer take good care of you, great prices, plenty of land to hunt and lifetime memories with new friends made. Y'all can't find a better all inclusive hunting experience at these prices.
I went here with my dad and brother for the week. There were several things that went wrong with this hunt. First off $2600 is way too much for what we got. We were told that it was going to just be us 3 and the guide scott. But when we got there he had brought another client for the week. The guide scott could be very rude at times as well. Saying “Let me tell you something and don't make me tell you again”, acting like it was an inconvenience that my disabled father and his other client wanted to use hunting blinds instead of tree-stands, and all around acting like we should know everything he knows. The beds were very stiff and uncomfortable. Scott had been sending us pictures of deer for several weeks in advance showing us what we could get. I understand that the deer weren’t “guaranteed” but i didn’t see a single one of the deer he showed off. Just 5 doe and one 4 point. He was also supposed to be making all of our meals for us but then had an “appointment” and running his grandson all over the place and asking me to cook for the whole group. My recommendation? Save your time and money because I wasted mine on this.
