I only had a short amount of time to explore, but I am excited to go back when more birds are present. I did see my first horned lark! As well as a great horned owl, red talked hawks, northern flickers, cooper's hawks, northern harriers, blue herons, geese, and other more common birds. Great signage, well maintained roads, clean facilities.
This is a lovely slough and wildlife area. There is a dirt road that makes a loop for marshland wildlife viewing. They just ask that you stay within 25' of the road. We saw huge Great Blue Heron!
Nothing really there anymore. But we went really late in the year. But there are both rooms and the roads are nicely maintained.
A rural farm area in Paiute county, Mason valley Hwy 95A leads you along from California to silver springs from there you can go to Fallon, Fernley or to Carson City
I really love this place, it's very accessible. not a lot of people to move the bird around but that's not always bad.
