Good Morning Mr.Mark and crew , I started the adventure close to 18months even before my hunt even started. I contacted many Outfitters and Rancho Rojo got back to me first. I took 4 days travel time from Northern Mi to Santa Fe New Mexico . I had a reservation at a local hotel and after a good night sleep I was planning on driving the last couple of hours to hunting camp......HA HA ..I was fooled. During the night someone had broken into my truck stolen my hunting bow (Mathews v3 and Case)out of the truck. This is where my saga started for this day ... the day before my scheduled hunt. I contacted Mark Harper ... my guide and let him know what had happened. I was ready to turn and head north back home , but Mark said give him an hr and he would call back. He had not only found a bow shop in Albuquerque but the shop was waiting on me .... after waiting 4 + hrs for the police to show up to get a report I headed south to the bow shop. I arrived and talked to a gentlemen named Gabe .. he was so helpful and we found a good back up a used carbon Hoyt Matrix set it up with a different sight and I got it sighted in for my hunt. As you can imagine that a lot of wind had been knocked out of my sails at this point. So after Hail and opening of the skies I waited for the water to go down in the flooded roads, I was on my way back to Santa Fe to head to hunting camp.I arrived at camp pitch dark after getting lost in the canyon rds but I had made it ..Supper was waiting on me and the official hunt was to start the next afternoon.....I had extra arrows... more like back ups that had to be sighted in for broad heads. Harry my guide was waiting for me to get there and when all said and done it was close to 11 wake up time 0430 a.m. ...... I can say that the whole crew from Mr.Mark as I called him... down to the guides. They all went out of their ways to make me feel comfortable, respected, and a home away from home. Dinners were made everyday and was EXCELLENT , breakfast was burritos rd food, which were to big most times for me to finish. I would give Rancho Rojo 10/10 stars any day. The scenery was great a big change from the trees in Northern Mi to reds, oranges, greys way to many colors to say. This was a dream of a life time hunt for me but turned into a nightmare .... with a huge silver lining! I cannot put into words How this hunting outfitter runs him camps they are great people EPI, and the crew ...My guide Harry had me laughing most days while heading out for the morning. If you are thinking of hunting New Mexico elk give them an Email..or better yet call talk to Mr.Mark himself. I cannot stress how with all my stress about losing 4000+ dollars in archery equipment I was made to feel at home. Thank you Mr.Mark for me memories. Todd Brewer Traverse City Mi

This year a friend of mine and I booked a guided Elk hunt with Rancho Rojo outfitters on the recommendation of a previous client. This was our first trip to New Mexico so we didn't know exactly what to expect. We were both very impressed with the professionalism of the outfitter Mark Harper, his guides, and the accommodations. The meals prepared by Mark's wife, Edna were also excellent. We enjoyed a top notch hunt with numerous opportunities to harvest mature bulls. We both took mature bulls and plan to return in the future.

My father in law & I booked & paid in full early with great promise for mule deer. Drove around in truck 8+ hours a day in single cab...DID NOT SEE A DEER. Don't recommend this place!

Mark and Edna are upstanding folks who run a great business. I’ve hunted Elk, Oryx, Antelope and Mule deer with them and always have had a great time.
