Saddle Ridge Outfitters

We had an outstanding time at Saddle Ridge. Beautiful country, awesome people, and an exciting hunt. We were able to harvest 4 birds. Stacey and Rob were extremely polite helping us to seemlessly reschedule our trip after Covid forcing us to cancel last year. Rob did a good job of explaining roost areas coming to a completely new area to hunt we were very happy with our results. We would love to go back again sometime.

We came to hunt May 15-17, 2019 right after the previous review said they only saw jakes. Rob drove us around explained the area very well and where the birds were. Birds were call shy probably from the previous hunters and the hens had not went to nest yet, making for a challenging hunt. We had toms gobble and hens pitch out from above my head to go to them. Competing with a hen is always going to make for a hard hunt plus the weather was in the mid 80's. We had plenty of signs for turkeys including tail feathers we found under roost. Gobbling every morning and mid-morning gobbling started at the end of our hunt. The previous review was correct in saying there are a lot of deer. It would have probably been a better hunt if we could have had a guide rather than self-guided. The experience of the strut patterns etc is gold in the turkey woods. Rob and Stacey were the perfect hosts, there if we needed something but left us alone. Accommodations were basic but clean and comfortable. Springview is a very small town with not much to do, the people were friendly. This isn’t the Merriam Turkey hunt we had hoped for as we only brought home one bird but none of that is Rob and Stacey’s fault. It is a beautiful place to hunt, the scenery is breathtaking.

I hunted deer with Saddle Ridge last year (2023) and it was a delightful experience. Rob and Staci went above and beyond to make my hunt a success. Lodging is very comfortable and food was great. I was pleased to kill a nice buck representative of the area. In a word, this hunt was fun.

We got the impression from Rob that there weren’t many adult Tom’s on the property when we arrived. That proved to be true, there were a lot of Jake’s. We encountered zero adult gobblers on the property. We ended up hunting our last day on public land and had a better hunt. I think that he shouldn’t have charged us full price knowing there was very limited opportunity to harvest adult gobblers. We didn’t drive 800 miles to shoot Jake’s

Upon arrival Rob took us out on a tour of the hunting property and took alot of time to answer all of our questions. He showed us where he thought our best chances would be for our first morning and he was right. We had at least six gobblers fired up each morning near us but unfortunately they henned up quickly. We did see lots of tracks, poop, feathers, and dusting sights. Saddle Ridge has a good number of birds and I was lucky enough to tagged a double bearded tom. The hunting lodge was small but extremely clean and served its purpose, we were very comfortable. As for Rob and Stacey, they were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely hunt with Saddle Ridge again.
