Lost Island Hunt Club and Lodge

Kyle was a spectacular host. Perfect place to hunt and be with friends and family!

If you book a stay at Lost Island Lodge, make SURE you go through VRBO or AIrbnb for your guest protection. I found the Lost Island Lodge through the VRBO website. I tried booking and Kyle Simpson sent me a message on the VRBO website asking me to google his name or the Lost Island Lodge to talk to him about the booking but he said he thinks those dates are available. In that message Kyle said VRBO blocks phone numbers and emails, which is why he wanted me to google his phone number. I did that and proceeded with the booking directly with Kyle and not through VRBO, he didn't want to pay VRBO fees and said they keep his money for weeks after guest has left and he doesn't think that's right. Kyle emailed a contract after we talked on the phone. On top of 3 night minimum stay fee there was a $1343.11 deposit , $1000 of that was refundable. A $295 cleaning fee. WEEKS after our stay, I called to ask why I hadn't received refundable deposit, he lost his temper , screamed at me and came up with various reasons to keep my deposit. He said microwave was messy, we scratched the countertop. He has accused me of having extra guests and subtracted that out of my non existent deposit as well. I sent him an exact list of every guest previous to that and that list never changed, never. Accused me of bringing dogs without his knowledge even though I previously talked on phone with him and said exact breed, weight and type of dog. He said 'great, I love dogs!' We left the place clean, we swept, took trash out to dumpster, put clean dishes away etc. I could go on but I won't. Just know Kyle will sway you outside of booking through VRBO so he doesn't have to pay them their fair share. Then he can also come up with $1000 worth of reasons to keep your refundable deposit knowing the guest is not protected through VRBO policy anymore. I hope this helps someone else avoid the experience I had with Kyle Simpson. Jennifer
