Calamus Outfitters

I was looking for something to do in the area with my parents. We did the Sandhills Ranch Habitat Eco-Tour with Sara and it was very enjoyable. She shared the history of the ranch and her family, along with some of their current practices and environmental concerns. She was knowledgeable about many native plants and birds. The jeep ride was pleasant and the scenery was beautiful.

My family had a wonderful weekend getaway at Calamus Outfitters. The cabin was perfect for our family of 4 but could easily sleep 2 more. The tanking trip in the river was fabulous and all the staff were super friendly. They even let us change our time last minute due to colder temperatures. We are already talking about going next summer.

Four of us did a two hour float using the tank they provided. It had bench seats all around and no leaks. they were there waiting for us at the site to take us upstream thru their ranchland. the area is stunning and beautiful. We had a great time floating. the water is so clear, the land and waters were clean of trash and debris as it should be. the only sounds were ours or nature. I want to say thanks to the owners of the land for sharing with us what they have and are protecting.

The staff was helpful. We had a large gathering in the barn. It was perfect with lots of tables and equipped kitchen. We rented both lodges and a cabin. The lodges were very nice, would have been nice if it wasn't during covid as we had to bring bedding. The air conditioner in the cabin was quite noisy. We loved the large dinning/living area in the upper lodge. We loved there was a handicap bathroom for our mom with a walker. View was peaceful with beautiful sunsets. Would definitely stay again!

Had a great Labor Day weekend with Calamus with a family group of about 20. Sue Ann was so helpful from the time we booked through our stay; answering all our questions and concerns for our trip. All rentals we stayed at were clean and cared for with well appointed kitchens. We most enjoyed our tubing trip down the river, grilling out and s’mores over the fire pit. The Nebraska sky was so clear and we spent each night stargazing on our picnic table. A perfect relaxing getaway weekend for those that enjoy wholesome fun in the great outdoors!
