Brought a group of mature men from all over the country to ND who had never been to ND. Mid July 2025. A couple flew up with their own fishing gear. We all grew up on a nice residential lake. We chose Devil’s Lake. Rented the last boat available on the lake about one month from our visit. From Woodlands Resort. Very nice facilities. Knowledgeable and service-oriented staff. Had 4 lines in the water for 2 days and didn’t get a nibble. To add insult to that injury, somewhere on the lake we hit something submerged and damaged the lower unit. Tacked on another $811 to our bill. Recommendation to guests: Get the rental insurance. Come to find out Devil’s Lake has a submerged town under its waters. Recommendation to the owners: Force-place renters insurance or at least strongly advocate and educate around taking the insurance. On the upside the bar & grill at the lodge is very good. My guests will probably continue fishing in Ontario.
Wonderful Peaceful overnight stay. Felt seen, heard, and safe. The Strands really are pillars in the environment celebrating birthdays and family reunions for over 100 yrs. Very knowledgeable, insightful, courteous, and very welcoming. And so was this visit. Staff are dedicated and precise. Even just for an evening stroll. The waters were definitely calm, considering the winds of 2025. Im grateful I blew through. It was a wonderful and treasured experience that ill carry for the rest of my life. All the creatures of the woodlands felt like home. Thank you 😊
I've been going for almost 20 years and it is truly the best fishing resort I've ever visited (I've been to about a dozen). The boat ramps are right on resort with ice, gas, and bait sales right there. The onsite restaurant is fantastic and even if not on a resort it is the type of place you'd revisit often. The service is amazing the cabins are extremely clean by fishing resort standards. The place does a great job of serving both the fishing type and family types just looking for time on the water. The lake is enormous, we caught over 200 walleye on my boat alone last week. The bite was amazing 7pm and later, the lake has lots of stumps so make sure you have GPS maps before taking a boat out. The only negative on the resort is that the rental boats have to be back by 7 which is early when sun goes down almost 3 hours later in June. The rental boats also lack spotlock so fishing out of them can be a challenge unless you like working with an old fashion anchor (difficult to use in the wind there). The cost on everything at resort is extremely reasonable and they even have cases of beverages at the bar area you can purchase for a day on the lake preventing a trip to town. Can't wait to go back next year!
Nice resort. Would recommend if staying in the area. Stayed in both the motel and the resort (stated an extra night). Preferred the resort but the motel room was exceptionally clean and comfortable.
40$ nite for tent? Ridiculous. Can get most of that at state park for 20$ notice they didn't mention the food service I didn't get....smart remarks!!!! And of course I never stayed ...I walked to front desk and asked about price.....then left!!!!
