Great experience and would definitely recommend. This was our second time going for elk with rifle (4 of us). We all got bulls. The other 2 hunters, 1 got a bull and one took a cow (but he probably could have waited for a bull). The accommodations are good. Not a 5 star resort but you’re hunting in the mountains and it’s very comfortable and that at home feeling. The food everyday was amazing thanks to Michelle. The guides are top notch and are a real help throughout the hunt. Also everyone it’s super friendly/laid back. The views are amazing the whole time. When coming out make sure you’re confident in shooting around 300 yards or so. Our shots were anywhere from 211-355, but you might need to shoot further. They do have a long distance range that’s good to practice when you first get in so bring plenty of ammo cause Bozeman is 50 min away. Great WiFi at the lodge but poor phone signal FYI. There is a great processor (cash or check only) near by for the meat but figure out how you’re gonna get it home if you live far away. Thank you , Doug, Zanye, Kurt, Andrew and Michelle.
My wife, ( she went along as a non hunting guest), and I just left Elk Ridge Outfitters. We both had a blast spending time with the owner Doug and his wife Michelle, and all the guides, Andrew, Curt, and Zane. Three of the other hunters were from Michigan and one from Delaware, all great guys, and we enjoyed getting to know them. We all tagged out on bulls, all the guides worked together and hard for all of us on our individual hunts and we saw lots of other wildlife too, lots of mule deer, white tailed deer, couple antelope, some turkeys on the last day, and even one yak that got out of a pasture. What impressed me while we were there was how the owner Doug was always scouting for more elk while we were out hunting, and there is a tremendous number of Elk on the property. If a guides hunter tagged out they were also out scouting in other locations on the ranch for the other hunters. Couple of things to caution other hunters about are one you may leave camp weighing more than we you arrived because of Michelle’s cooking. All meals were delicious. The other word of caution would be to take time to practice as much as possible with your rifle before you come. The further you can shoot accurately the more your chances of success is, even though none of us had to shoot more than 350 yards. Practice sitting, kneeling, and especially in the prone position. As we head back to NC I’m sure Eddie the horse, Tucker and Dot the dogs, as well as the cats are going to miss my wife as much as she will miss giving them attention each day. Oh BTW most beautiful sunrises and Sunsets you will ever see. Thank you to Doug, Michelle, and all the guides for a trip we won’t forget. Hope to see again down the road.
Great outfitters for Elk. High success rate and top quality land and guides. Everything at this lodge is great. Plenty of elk in the area.
Wonderful experience! Can't wait to come again.
