Bar W Guest Ranch

The Bar W is an amazing destination for enjoying the Ranch life. My girlfriend and I did the Swisher package with only a few rides under our belt and we had a great time. The trail rides were not too difficult, and we even got extra lessons to learn how to trot and cantor which came in handy on the last couple of trail rides. The trail rides took us to some breathtaking views like Swisher lake and the Canadian border. After each ride, we had plenty of evening activities on the ranch like square dancing, skeet shooting, and more. The staff was engaging and really brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm to each event. The food was surprisingly good, even though it was a buffet style. Different cuisines and desserts every meal, made fresh. I would highly recommend going to the Bar W

We had a horseback riding tour here and it was awesome! I am a beginner, so I was a little nervous about the ride, but Orion, the horse, was the sweetest boy ever! He was gentle and knew his work very well. My husband and I had the best time: the staff was very nice and friendly and the horses are healthy, well trained and beautiful. We will definitely come back next time we’re in town.

Extraordinary experience! My family and I spent a week in late July and no words will do justice to this amazing place called Bar W Guest Ranch. Every aspect of it, from the accomodation, the spectacular location, the warm and kind attention, the western vibes, the delightful meals and last but not least the beautiful horses! My kids highly enjoyed the kids program, the kids rodeo was definitely their highlight as well as being in contact with nature, learning how to to ride in a very safe and fun environment and of course the making of the new friends. I personally felt transported to a beautiful world unknown to me, learning not only to ride but also understanding the horses, their names and their personalities. What a wonderful opportunity to connect with nature and with one another. This has been one of our best family vacations.

We experienced authentic ranch life, complete with daily horseback riding that had my son so enchanted he’s now begging us to buy him a horse so he can keep riding at home! Breathtaking Scenery & Engaging Activities! The Montana landscape surrounding the ranch is absolutely breathtaking. Every trail ride offered new vistas that took our breath away. The activities were perfectly planned and engaging for all ages, striking that perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. Exceptional Staff - The Heart of Bar W! What truly sets Bar W apart is their incredible staff. Every single person we encountered was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our stay memorable. Logan deserves special recognition—he has to be one of the kindest and most patient people I’ve ever met. Whether he was teaching our boys to skeet shoot or guiding us on trail rides, his encouragement and positive attitude made every moment special. Lauren, Nolan, Josh, Maddie, Fred, Ray Ann, Mickey, Joe—literally every staff member was outstanding. But I have to give special praise to Martha Paige, Annie, and Whit, who were absolutely wonderful with our younger children. They never pressured the kids to participate in activities they weren’t comfortable with, and when our little ones wanted to throw a football instead, Whit was right there on the lawn playing with them. That kind of flexibility and genuine care for each child’s experience is rare and precious. A Place We’ll Never Forget If we could come here every year, we absolutely would! Bar W Guest Ranch has set the bar impossibly high for family vacations. This is what a true guest ranch experience should be—authentic, welcoming, and absolutely magical. My husband and I were visiting Whitefish recently. I booked the Cliff Lake Trail ride with Bar W, which was off property and about 3 hours long. Let me start by saying: with an experience like this, your wrangler makes or breaks it. Our wrangler, Maddie, was truly exceptional. She was thorough with instructions, safety-minded, passionate about her job, but must importantly, FUN!! She answered all of my silly questions and never made us feel bad for lack of experience. The trail itself was stunning, going through the woods to a lake and up on a cliff overlooking the lake. The horses were so calm and had fun personalities. We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. I cannot recommend Bar W (and Maddie) enough!
