Meramec Farm Cabins

Hands down the best place I’ve stayed. It’s a country setting with country amenities. If you love a the idea of a real farm and gorgeous nature, you’ll fall in love with Carol’s place. Carol was kind and accommodating. We had everything we needed. The horses were friendly and we enjoyed watching the wide variety of birds across the property. The farm is centrally located to many natural feature destinations. Onondaga cave close by, Johnson shut ins and Mina Sauk falls and Maramec Springs a bit further away (an hour and some change). Peace and beauty everywhere on this property.
Awesome cabin on a farm. There are horses right behind the house that might come up and say hi. We brought apples and carrots for them. Great location nice and quiet
This proprietor does not care about the welfare of her clients. One of the main reasons that we booked here was because we were told we would be able to do a ride in the morning and then ride in the evening and then she just left in the morning and we couldn't get a hold of her. Then she called and told us that she was pushing our ride back to 12:30. Which of course meant that we didn't get on the horse until 1:00 and then we got back at 3:00 and said that we could either keep riding or be done because she couldn't do another ride later in the evening because she "had a life." My two friends and I were also experienced riders that she completely condescended to the entire ride. She talked to us like we were 1st graders that we're getting into trouble. We couldn't do anything right. And an there were two brand-new riders that had never been on horseback that she continued to leave behind and not help throughout the ride. So my friends and I acted as their guide. Multiple other issues such as bugs everywhere (and I'm no princess but this was excessive) including cockroaches in the bed with me. Too many other options to be treated so poorly. I'm shocked ppl continue to patronize this business.
Was going to book with Carol even though she has terrible ratings. She was very unprofessional and rude. My daughter has been wanting to go riding one of the main reasons we came she told me that we were to unprepared and to do it another time because we didn't have jeans. My husband couldn't ride because he weighs over 215. I was just shocked that she didn't even let us book a ride obviously not to concerned about her business or how she treats people. I usually don't give detailed bad ratings but this lady is terrible.
I was told beforehand that I would get to ride the gaited horse at a gait with my own guide and that never happened. I did get to gait for about 5 minutes at the end of the trail ride in the field by myself. had I known I would not have signed up for a 2 hour very slow kiddie ride as I can walk at that speed. the horse would have preferred to go a bit faster too. Carol was kind enough to send me the directions to the barn from my campground.the Peruvian Paso mare was the perfect match for me and I loved the horse . The scenery was decent. Perla the horse gets 5 stars . price was great .
