Great animals for a good price. For anyone who doesn’t mind high fence hunting, this is a great ranch. There are plenty of elk of all sizes to choose from. They take good care of you and you can do diy or guided—same cost. They definitely accommodate you.
First elk hunt experience and it could not have gone better. Tom and his crew were very nice and accommodating. The hunt experience was great. The terrain was everything from grassland to swamp to woods. The entire experience was great from start to finish. I would highly recommend.
Great experience of a lifetime at the MCCOY Ranch. We showed up after a 1900 mile drive around noon and was greeted by Tom. Was impressed right from the start, no BSing around, we dropped are gear and went and took a look at the ranch and it’s well spread out with different hunting areas. I picked the big preserve, I believe it’s around 250 acres. Got settled in and then we went and picked our Bulls. Tom pointed out a Bull at about 200 yards and said that’s a good one buddy, after carefully looking at 30 or so Bulls I agreed around dusk that that was the one. Next morning I went out on my hunt. We didn’t get a shot on that Bull till 3 in the afternoon, don’t think for a second you are gonna have an easy hunt, 240 acres of, woods, plains, swampy area, ponds it’s s big area and plenty of area for a Bull to evade. Sent the meat to the butcher and 2 weeks later I was picking up 350 Lbs of prime Elk meat from my local Airport. 10 out 10 experience. Great food, great folks, and I can’t wait to go back. FYI my bull scored right at 400in
We hunted elk on the property. From the moment we arrived until we left, we were treated right. We saw many many elk, bison, and Rams on the ranch. Tom and his helpers worked with us to make sure we were very happy with the animals we chose and after we pulled the trigger they took care of everything including transporting to the butcher. If you’re looking for quality animals at a good price and a really good experience, this is the place to go.
Agreed on a bison hunt for 3-4yo at arranged price. Agreed on a date 3 months out and to use the cabin. Sent in a $1000 deposit to book the hunt. Called about the hunt a few weeks before our hunt date to go over specifics and that is when I got a gut feeling that this was about to be a bad experience, but he said everything was ready to go. I called the night before the hunt to verify what time we should be there and he said he had another group coming to the camp and asked if I could change my date. After telling him I didn't want to he told me he he only had a cow bison. He promised me a better animal if I could wait and reschedule. So my father in law and I had wasted our vacation time and I agreed to wait until he could get me the better animal as promised. 2 more months of me calling every 2 weeks with more failed promises he tries to get me to hunt a much smaller bull for a couple hundred less than the original agreement. I eventually just had to ask for the deposit back and he did send it back which is why I still give him 1 star.
