We stayed for the weekend and it was beautiful! The Carrington house was amazing. It was super clean and they provided everything you could need (towels, all kitchen appliances/utensils, wood, laundry, all the necessities you could need. The lodge is right next door and we had so much fun in it! We had 4 adults and 2 small boys, we loved driving the golf carts and seeing all the deer on the property. The owner Jeff and grounds manager Greg were great to communicate with. I would highly recommend this place!!! You will not be disappointed!
We spent an amazing weekend at Blind River Ranch! The ranch is so beautiful and the accommodations were outstanding. Vintage appeal with all of the amenities. Waking up to majestic views and wildlife. Watching big bucks, does and fawns coming in to drink from the pond. The lodge is beautiful with a huge fire place, plenty of things to do including table top shuffleboard, pool and ping pong. If you want to experience being one with nature this is the place to go, with countless deer and big bucks with majestic racks. Pictures do not do justice to the experience we had. The Roberts are great hosts ensuring their guests have the best experience. Can’t wait to go back.
What a place! My family and I booked the Blind River Ranch for a summer getaway weekend, and WOW! That's about all we can say! So many deer, so many fish! So quiet, so relaxing, so much fun! We arrived to a warm and friendly greeting by the proprietors, Jeff and Deb who showed us to the Carrington House, our home for the weekend. The house has beds for 10 people spread amongst (I think) 4 bedrooms. You could sleep another half-dozen on the sofas, plus chairs, etc. While a bit rustic looking, the furniture and beds were quite comfortable. Three full bathrooms with showers. The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils and cooking vessels you could ask for, and something we've never seen before--2 of almost everything. Two full stoves, two full-size fridges, and two dishwashers. Bath towels, bed linens and basic toiletries (shampoo, soap) included as well. We felt safe and secure (from wild animals and other people) the entire time we were there. The entire property is enclosed by a very high fence, and the entrance gate requires a keycode to enter. There are, I believe, 350 deer on property, and we saw a good portion of them. There are a dozen trails you can ride that zigzag you through the property, where we also saw pheasants, badgers, and many species of birds. The most exciting finds were the white deer--Jeff informed us they're not albino (although that's what they look like and what we thought originally), but they are a breed of white haired deer, a first for our family. My 10-year old daughter and I would leave the house in the morning and ride the trails on the golf carts that were provided for us (I think the reason she wanted to go our so bad was that she got to drive the golf cart). We'd hunt for rocks, spot deer and other fauna...And as much as we tried, despite miles and miles of trails, we never got lost! The pond (as seen in one of the photos with deer wading in it) was grossly overstocked with fish--WOW! I didn't have much fun fishing because one of my daughters and wife would get their poles in the water and (not exaggerating) 10-15 seconds later, I'd hear "fish on!", and have to help them take the fish off the hook and subsequently bait their hooks again. I kid, it was SO MUCH FUN, I've been fishing for 40 years and never had an experience like that. For the few seconds I did get to fish, I nearly lost my pole because I set it down while attending to one of the girls, and a big ol' bass tried stealing my pole. :) But my 10 y/o is probably spoiled for fishing for the rest of her life, I told her it'll never be like this anywhere again! In an hour, not exaggerating, 3 of us caught probably 12-15 fish. (Catch and release). Our Carrington House is the largest on property. There are other houses on property as well, and I believe the sleeping capacity property-wide is 30-something. As someone in business, this place would make an awesome getaway for team-building exercises or a corporate retreat. Would be a picturesque and unforgettable place for a smaller wedding. But it sounds like their main clientele are hunters, looks like a great place to hunt, blinds scattered throughout the property, and seems like an amazing place to bring a bunch of guys together for a week or weekend of controlled hunts in a safe and comfortable environment. Our cell signal (Verizon) sucked. However, not sure how they do it, but the internet speeds were BLAZING, faster than we get at home in Saginaw with Charter/Spectrum's higher tier service. TVs in our house had a Roku with most major streaming apps. The charming, friendly and safe town of Mio is nearby. We cooked one night and got pizza from the local pizza shop in town. (Warning, order 2 hours before you want your pizza on a busy summer weekend). The town has small shops, mostly mom-and-pop type places (no Target nor Meijer, etc. nearby). You're in Amish country and you'll pass many Amish homesteads on your way to and fro the Blind River Ranch. And the Creamery nearby is a great country store run by Amish folks. 10/10. Would definitely repeat!
I was able to go to Blind River Ranch with a bunch of family and friends recently and the whole place is awesome! The host, Jeff, was very hospitable and did a great job of having things planned for us to do so there was never a dull moment. Likewise, the chef was fantastic and made foods that I couldn’t even pronounce. Absolutely great experience and I highly recommend going here if anyone is considering.
My buddies and I went here for a guys weekend and we had an amazing time. Jeff was such a great host and was super accommodating. The property is absolutely beautiful and the large screened in porch overlooking the pond and woods was my favorite spot.
