My family and I loved staying at the Homestead Lodge and hunting with Scott, Teddy, and family. We went hound hunting for bear and were able to get two bears, one for my husband and one for me. We took our eight-old son on this trip and everyone was so kind and patient with him. The food was on point and did not disappoint, Mariah's desserts were delicious. This family is not only professional but hard working and knowledgeable, which as a business owner myself is very valuable and makes them stand out from other businesses. The property is well kept and beautiful. My husband plans to go back for duck hunting in October and we will try to go back as much as possible to hunt with them. Thank you for such a great time!

This year was my second year with Homestead Lodge. Did the hound hunt in 2024. It was starting to get time for the bears to Den up so no luck. That's life , so not a big deal. Its hunting. This year we did the bait hunt. Multiple issues people need to be aware of. 22 people booked the second week to hunt. overbooked it by 5 people per the owner and he apologized to us. We were a group of four. Put 2 of us on bait sites with no cameras that were not hit at all. The whole week they sat at 3 sites total that were never hit by a bear. They have stopped using game cameras which is terrible to do when people are spending the amount of money we do to actually have a chance to shoot a bear. My son and I were put in a stand where a father/son duo shot and missed a bear the week before. They brag about having 125 bait sites, so why in week 2 are you using old sites that don't get hit by bears and sites that people have shot and missed a bear in? Wasted a lot of money. Wouldn't do another hunt with them. Felt like in 2024 they care about us, in 2025 we were just extra money for them. Sad to see the change in how they treat clients. 3 out of 22 people got a bear in week 2. Not very good numbers at all.

e Homestead Lodge was a great experience. I was there bear hunting from August 31- September 7th with my family of five. The owners, Scott and Trisha Soucy were very pleasant and helpful as was all the staff. The food was excellent and the rooms were clean. You hunt afternoons and have mornings to fish so bring your poles, hang with family, or shoot at the 3D archery range bring your bows. The Soucy family does everything possible to get you a bear. Two individuals in our party got bears. The butchering was excellent. Everything was vacuumed sealed so it was easy for us to transport home. Definitely we will be back. We were week two and my nephew shot one on Monday and my son harvested one on Wednesday. Multiple people missed bears that day. So some shouldn't blame the lodge..

Went on a black bear hunt here with a small group. The food was great and the lodge was decent, but the hunting experience was disappointing. The bears were small, and it felt like the priority was just getting us to shoot something—regardless of size. One example: there were two bears in a tree, and after one of the other guys in our group shot the first one, my brother was told he had to shoot the second one too. The guide insisted it was a rule that both had to be taken. Turns out that wasn’t true, and the bear he shot ended up being a tiny cub that could fit in a small backpack. When we brought this up with the owner, Scott, he admitted the mistake and said that wasn’t a real policy —but didn’t offer any solution, discount, or way to make it right. I’ve hunted all over the U.S. and Africa, and unfortunately, this was the worst experience I’ve had. If you're looking for a trophy-quality black bear hunt, I’d recommend going elsewhere.
