If you are searching for a magical place to celebrate your wedding, look no further than Zigbone. My son and daughter-in-law were married there recently, and it was perfect from start to finish. From the very beginning, Marijke was instrumental in creating a seamless and unforgettable experience for the couple and our families. She guided us through everything - from recommending fantastic local vendors (special shout-out to Brothers Pizza for the rehearsal dinner, Mr. Garcia knows his stuff), to patiently answering all our questions and providing thoughtful advice on staging the reception. Her reassurance was much appreciated, especially since this was the first wedding for both sets of parents! We booked the venue from Friday to Sunday, and having the entire wedding party stay onsite made the whole weekend feel cozy and relaxed. We had full use of the kitchen for the rehearsal dinner, which made everything convenient and stress-free. The reception space is stunning - chandeliers hanging from the rafters give it a rustic elegance that requires minimal decorating. There is a European countryside charm that the couple immediately fell in love with. Throughout the venue, you’ll find Marijke’s artwork, which adds a personal and artistic touch to the space. She’s an incredibly talented artist, and her work gives the venue unique warmth and personality. The venue truly speaks for itself. Zigbone was more than just a venue; it was a home for a weekend full of love, joy and unforgettable memories. Much thanks to Marijke and Dena! Highly, highly recommended!
My experience at Zigbone was spectacular in every way. Dena is the perfect host for writers. The farmhouse is both spacious and welcoming with a wonderful combination of places to gather and spaces to be alone when you wanted. The setting and scenery are beautiful and offer opportunities for great walks. The food was tasty and the dining room provided a gracious space to gather at the end of the day. Finally, Eugenia Kim was a generous instructor and her handouts were detailed and equally generous and useful. Her individual consultation helped me take my writing to the next level. This was my first experience at Zigbone. I can’t wait to return.
Zigbone Farm was the spiritual heart of our wedding. As soon as we booked this venue, everything flowed from there. Schedule, design and theme, decisions about other vendors and guest list — everything else became easier because this venue provided such a gorgeously strong anchor point in the middle of our special celebration. What more can you ask for? Every single vendor commented on the uncommon beauty and peace of this venue. We loved having our welcome dinner here on Friday night and having a local vendor make pizza in the cob oven. On Saturday when it rained, we didn't have to worry because we knew the lodge house would beautifully accommodate our guests for cocktail hour and that the pavilion and event hall would be fine if the rain didn't stop (it did, and we got a double rainbow!). On Sunday, we hosted a beautiful farewell breakfast. It was so wonderful to be able to have so many friends stay on site with us, and to have some space from them in the bridal suite. Not having to leave the property once during the entire weekend was such a blessing and kept things from feeling too busy or crazy. Marijke was our main contact and she was so quick to respond to any questions we had and really fun to interact with. She clearly loves this place and has a deep enthusiasm for the couples who celebrate there. Our guests who stayed on site felt so spoiled and kept remarking on how relaxed they felt, that it felt like a true retreat for them even amid a busy schedule of events. We really hope to return to Zigbone for a reunion one day, what a special sacred place. I cannot recommend it enough to any couple marrying. Especially as a queer couple, we felt deeply affirmed, safe and celebrated here. Thank you Marijke and Dena!!
Beautiful, relaxing, and inspiring place!! I loved every second I was fortunate to spend there. Delicious food, spotless and welcoming environment, beautiful outdoor spaces (including a big porch with gorgeous views and rocking chairs), cozy places inside to read and hangout, thoughtfully sustainable, and excellent attentive service. I would go back in a hummingbird heartbeat!
Attended a writing retreat at Zigbone this July and the experience was fantastic. Dena and the crew made me feel not just a guest but part of the family. Tammy Greenwood, our instructor, was thoughtful, knowledgeable and most of all helpful in offering practical advice and insights as to how to structure a novel. The setting is a beautiful farm nestled in a valley close by Catoctin National Park in Maryland. I stayed in the Springhouse (one of the outbuildings) which was private and lovely but the lodge too is wonderful. Can't recommend highly enough and I will be back!
