Hugg-Thomas Wildlife Management Area is a hidden gem! My son recently went on a hike there with his Cub Scout pack and had a fantastic time. The trails were a bit rugged in some spots, which added to the adventure for the kids. He was thrilled to see some wildlife. Our scout master did a great job guiding the group along the way. It's a wonderful place to connect with nature and create lasting memories. Highly recommend for families and groups looking for an outdoor experience close to home!
Small Parking lot. Well defined trail, part forest road, part natural trails, short paved section and Railroad tracks. No facilities.
please note that the park is only available to non-hunters on Sundays during September through February.
One of my favorite hunting spots. Unfortunately not as consistent as I'd like but that's the thing about public hunting. The only thing I can recommend is maybe label where the food plot is on the map so hunters can know exactly where it is.
This was my first visit. It's quite a natural park, minimal maintenance. There are walking loops but some of it is through 9 in tall grass. Of course the highlight is the beautiful River but it's very hard to get down to it. I'm sure there are one or two trails but I didn't find any so my son and I bushwhacked down to it and enjoyed some waiting in the cool water.
