Muddy Creek Game Birds

Fun place to shoot. Host was helpful and worked hard to make sure we had a nice hunt. Cleaning facilities were clean and stocked. Beautiful country and some impressive white tails.

We had a great experience at Muddy Creek. Very accommodating and friendly to work with. Our guide and dog were also excellent. I’d highly recommend.

My hunting partner and I were fortunate enough to take a few friends on an incredible hunting trip. After a lot of research, we came across Muddy Creek. We spoke to Katie Petesch, and her husband Andy (who are the owners), several times in preparation for this trip. They were incredibly insightful and made the planning of our trip easy. We live in the Dallas area, was having a friend fly into Wichita, so we drove. Picked him up at the airport, stayed the night in Wichita, and drove up to Muddy Creek the next morning. We were greeted by Ms. Katie with an infectious smile. She instantly made us feel welcome and showed us the lodge which was going to be our home for the evening. Upon getting settled, we met our guide for the next 2 days of hunting. He got us squared away and off we went to hunt pheasants. This is a preserve, and as much as we would have liked to have hunted wild birds, this financially wasn’t in our cards. Our goal was to hunt with this group of guys, over dogs (I was the only one who had ever done that) and try our hand at upland birds. This group of guys had only hunted doves in TX. Nevertheless, the birds flew well and we had a great time chasing them! After the morning hunt, we headed back to the lodge where lunch was waiting for us. Ms. Katie prepared us a wonderful meal which helped us warm up abundance give each other grief over missed shots and had a lot of laughs. We had a blast hunting chukars in the afternoon. Watching the dogs work a field was 1/2 the fun. If you’ve never hunted chukars, they are so much fun! As a side note, we brought my 9 year old with us for the experience. He hadn’t hunted yet, but had been out to the fields the prior dove season. This kids is an animal lover and had a blast watching the dogs work. In addition, our guide showed him how they plant birds, talked to him about German Short Hair Pointers, Hunter safety etc. He was incredible with my son. After the afternoon hunt, we got back to the lodge to shower up and have a fantastic meal with Andy & Ms. Katie. She put on a wonderful spread and enjoyed each other’s company until we went to bed. Woke up to a wonderful breakfast and fantastic hunt. Take away- incredible place with even better people. They do offer big game hunts too. Consider them for a trip to the beautiful country in Kansas! Overall Experience: 5+ Stars Lodging: 5 Stars Food: 5 Stars. Is it Michelin Star type food? No Is it good home cooking comfort food? Heck yes! Value: 5 Stars

Andy (owner) and Mark (guide) were both awesome! Great field work for the dogs and kids, European hunt was a blast, and lunch was good! Bird cleaning station was a perfect set up, and the entire staff was helpful and friendly. All around great time and we all plan to come back!
