I visited Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary this weekend, and I had such a wonderful time! The sanctuary is clean, well-maintained, and easy to walk around. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the animals, and you can tell they genuinely care for them. There’s a great variety of animals to see—everything from farm animals that the kids can feed, to exotic wildlife like kangaroos, lemurs, and even bison. I especially loved the petting and feeding areas, and it was such a fun, hands-on experience for me. It’s a perfect family-friendly outing that combines learning with fun. I left with lots of great memories and will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable activity in the area.
A Hidden Gem for Animal Lovers! Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary is a wonderful place for a peaceful, fun, and educational day out — perfect for families, couples, or anyone who loves animals and nature. The sanctuary is beautifully maintained and set in a scenic, wooded area that makes you feel like you’ve stepped away from the hustle of everyday life. The animals are clearly well cared for, and there’s a great variety — from deer and goats you can feed, to exotic animals like lemurs, porcupines, and even rescued wildlife. One of the highlights was the walk-through deer enclosure, where the animals roam freely and interact with visitors. It’s a unique, up-close experience that’s both heartwarming and fun, especially for kids. The staff are friendly, informative, and clearly passionate about what they do. The walking paths are shaded and easy to navigate, and there are plenty of spots to stop, rest, and take in the surroundings. It’s not a massive zoo — and that’s part of the charm. It feels more personal and relaxed, with a real focus on animal care and rescue. Overall, Yellow River Sanctuary offers a wholesome, feel-good experience that leaves you with a smile. Highly recommended if you’re looking for something different and meaningful to do in the area!
We had such an amazing time. All of the areas are well maintained, the animals seem happy and taken care of. Every species has enough space to thrive. The staff is very friendly and, since there are a lot of trees along the path, it doesn't feel hot. They have bisons, that we were able to feed but not pet, as they don't like it. The petting zoo has a donkey, goats, etc. There's a separate area to touch bunnies, great for kids.
A fantastic spot for the whole family with friendly staff and amazing wildlife. There are plenty of animals you can feed and interact with, so don’t forget to grab some food at the ticket counter. The animals are well cared for, and the enclosures are clean and well-maintained. Bring your zoom lenses to get some awesome pictures! The sanctuary is the perfect size to explore in a couple of hours—just enough to keep the kids engaged without burning out. Highly recommended!
We had the best time at Yellow River sanctuary. Everything looked wonderful, what they did and how they renovated was amazing. You can tell a lot of effort and Love went into the work. I went with my son my sister, and my niece, and the kids loved it. Even my 12-year-old thought it was pretty cool. They do a great job taking care of these animals they rescued.
