I had a great time at Pope plantation. Mr. Pope is a great host. Great place to unwind and unplug. Pope plantation is a place where the world goes back to simpler times from front porch sitting in rocking chairs to the hunting dogs on the porch. I was there for my second hunt for Whitetail deer in October 2024. Even with the Storm damage from the hurricane I saw deer at every stand. I was able to get a nice 10 point buck.

Where do I begin, we booked the hunt month ago one full day and a half of quail hunting. We get there and we are told we would only be taken on a half day hunt, but after showing them our reservation papers they gave us our full day hunt. The lodge was a mess and took over the check in time to prepare for our group. There was marijuana in baggies in the bedrooms and pornographic material from the previous guests and glass on the floor from busted bottles. We got that settled all while Mr. Pope was no help at all accusing us of having brought the marijuana in with us. Then we got to the hunt our guide was 42 minutes late, one of the dogs growled at my young son and would not hunt. The quail must have had the avian flu that is going around as the were sickly and lethargic. If you looked at one the wrong way it would fall over dead. We killed about 30 birds, but seeing the condition they were in we did not want to have them cleaned and consumed by our party so they said they would keep them for dinner for another party. The guide kept harassing my brother for a "tip" saying he had his rent due that weekend and he was short on cash and we were not told about any sort of tipping policy which we planned to tip at the end of the hunt, but were not prepared to be begged for a tip. We returned to the lodge to find the local American Pest Control there and the pest control guy told us they were treating the rooms for bed bugs and we would need to stay outside an hour, well this ran over into supper making it the where we did not eat until nearly 9:30PM while Mr. Pope kept trying to push liquor drinks and "Hor d'oeuvres" (which was Vienna Sausages)on us to "fill the gap". We finally ate and got settled into the lodge around 11:30, but were met with air mattresses in our rooms with the excuse being the beds were heavily treated by the pest control company. We packed our stuff and left, but not before Mr. Pope came back to the lodge and cussed at us and saying things in front of my 9 year old son he should never hear. I would never recommend this place to anyone, I'm sure there is better accommodations and hospitality at the local jail.

This is back to back years going to Georgia and hunting at the Pope plantation. Came with 4 hunters in total both years. Last year out of the 4 hunters two of us got a 8pointer. This year out of the four I was the only one to get a buck and two pigs. we go late in the season so it’s a tougher hunt but it’s a great experience hangout at the cabin cook food and tell story’s . Pope is a great guy and treats you like family. We will be going every year around the same time.

Hunting pope plantation was a great experience especially for family hunts! Building a great relationship with your sons and daughters, mr. Pope was a fabulous host and a very intelligent deer guide and mentor to children!! I highly recommend using his facilities of large box blinds, swiveled chair ground blinds, and sturdy tree stands, not to mention we harvested a beautiful 8 point buck and wild pigs!!!! So be apart of this great outdoor world of bonding and hunting with your family!!!!!!

2 succesful quail hunts. The place is fantastic--- tons of land, nice people, and just a great overall experience. We couldn't have had a better time with our dog. I definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back next time I am in Georgia.
