Silver Lake Preserve

Only for the experienced Hunter. Others... be careful the guide does not rip your head off.. I went with my son a few years ago and this is still bothering me so finally decided to write this and get some closure. First time bird hunting myself and took my son. We are both very experienced shooters so handling guns is not an issue. We made sure they knew we were first-time hunters and asked for all the rules. The hunt was going well until at one point, the dogs, guide and my son were all way in front of me and from behind me a bird was coming down. I shot at it. Well, that was it. The guide lost his temper and was screaming in an irate manner. So much so that I made sure to put my son behind me. I stayed quiet to let him calm down but his screaming, panting, and pacing back and forth as he screamed lasted a good 2 to 3 minutes. Once he settled down, I asked if he was OK and to take a deep breath. We lost a good 45 minutes with this hole ordeal. Obviously we were the last in the group back to the camp. He never apologized and I was happy I was able to control myself in front of my son and not respond angrily. But in retrospect, that would have only made it worse, and it was scary. We stayed overnight and the next day we were paired up with another guide. Very nice person. I told him what happened in the hopes I could learn what I did wrong and he did not have an answer for me. But the second day was pleasant. If you go, make sure you really know what you are doing. Also, I recommend asking the manager to make sure you are being paired with a person that does not have anger management issues. Good Luck

Jamie and crew were absolutely amazing. I’ve been on many guided hunts. This one was Osceola Turkey. Beautiful property, excellent, clean lodge were just the beginning of the journey. The property has tons of wildlife. They called the birds in and we all learned a ton from the pros. I would highly suggest starting your next turkey season with the crew at Silver Lake Preserve.

Took my 2 boys to the shooting range. Wasn't setup right for a range. The shooters positions were too close together and dirt hills were in way when trying to shoot with 3 people at the tables. The lady working there was great. But the price of $25 A HOUR isn't good. By the time you pull up and get everything out and set up there goes 15 mins of your hour. And if your teaching kids you don't get that much time shooting. The pallets that hold your own targets were shot up and barley hold your target. It wouldn't be bad but for the price of the time they give you to shoot. Maybe $25 for 2 hours each person. Then it would be worth going there. I asked for discount if I came once every week but was told no, not even for a registered teacher teaching kids to shoot and the math they need to know to dope there scope. Was a great math class but can't afford to go teach kids there. Thank you and God Bless

Ive been coming to Silver lakes now for 4 years. Great quail hunting, shoot an Osceola Turkey this year. Also great pheasant tower shoot. Nice lodge to stay at great food and very nice people
