We had such a wonderful stay at this rustic and peaceful campsite! While the site itself was sparse and simple—just how we like it—it offered everything we needed for a cozy, nature-filled escape. What truly stood out was the hospitality. The hosts went out of their way to let us know about live music happening the next night, nearby hiking trails to explore, and even gave us a heads-up about a prescribed burn so we felt safe and informed. The campsite was beautifully dark at night, which made for some absolutely incredible stargazing—one of our favorite parts of the trip. The site is just a short 5-10 minute walk from the barn, which is where the music was (they also do weddings.) The whole place has this relaxed, magical vibe that makes you feel right at home with nature.
What a beautiful place! Our daughter got married at The Ranch on July 12 and we could not be happier with the venue choice! Nikki was so easy to work with and so kind and accommodating and a great communicator. The views of lake Sonoma are amazing, the sunset was awesome and the barn was lovely.
Beautiful way to view the nature and beauty of Sonoma from Between the Ears! The horses are well cared for and fit for the ride! Trail guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about leading all riders safely over the hills and through the redwoods! A must do for beginners and skilled riders alike!
My family and I recently visited Lake Sonoma and had a great experience at The Ranch. When we arrived, we learned that due to gale-force winds, campfires wouldn’t be allowed. They had sent an email that morning, but since we were busy preparing for our trip, we didn’t see it until David (who I believe is the owner) explained the situation. The Ranch immediately offered us a full refund for the inconvenience, as well as an alternative option: a propane-powered fire pit for $40. We decided to go with the propane unit, and it worked as well as it could under the circumstances. What really stood out to me was how David handled the situation. Instead of shrugging it off or leaving us without options, he went out of his way to make things right. That level of care and professionalism speaks volumes about his leadership. The scenery at Lake Sonoma is absolutely beautiful, and thanks to the outstanding service at The Ranch, I can’t wait to go back. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable outdoor experience!
I was there for a wedding. The barn was a cool place to have an event. There are campsites available there as well. They also have horseback riding available, which I did not go on a trail ride but it seems to be pretty cool. The view off the lake from there was a nice backdrop for the ceremony. From the campsites is a short drive down to the marina.
