I decided to take my 9 year old grandson on a guided wild turkey hunt. My good friend Paul highly recommended Cary Jellison owner of G&J. We had an amazing time, culminating in over a dozen strutting gobblers within 70 yards. On the second day we set a blind, and almost immediately had 6-8 Tom’s going ballistic and flying down from their roosts. His Northern California hunting leases are stunning, and worth the price of admission. The forests had magnificent old growth trees with some huge sequoias, Douglas and grand fir, western hemlock, black oak, Sitka spruce, and bigleaf maple. There was flowing creeks, with cool fern covered riparian areas. Well just as the sun was making its appearance in the eastern sky, a magnificent old 11 3/4” bearded gobbler came in on a trot to our calling, alas looking for love in all the wrong places! Cary is a true professional outdoorsman, who after decades of guiding clients still loves what he does, and gets excited when his clients are successful. He’s a true gentleman, and more important is just fun to be around. I look forward to many more hunts with G&S, and wether it’s spring turkey, fall B&C black tails, tule elk, or a once on a lifetime desert sheep I can’t recommend him highly enough. Only problem is he only takes a small amount of clients per year so book early, or take your chances with fly bye nights.

On my last hunting trip, master guide Cary Jellison took me hunting wild boar on the Shamrock ranch in Northern California. It was an amazing adventure and I harvested a great boar after long day glassing. I have spring hunted turkey 6 times successfully with Cary, and I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting a quality boar, turkey or Boone and Crocket black tail deer hunt. I’ve been hunting all my life and when I was younger and had the time, I enjoyed going to deer hunting spots without any preparation and got exactly what I was expecting, nothing but a hangover and good times. As I’ve gotten older and the ability to hire a guide, I can say with absolute certainty, Cary with G &J Outdoors is the very best. I’ve been on 14 big game hunts with Cary and or one of his premier guides and I have amazing memories and mounts on my wall.
