Visited with my 13-year-old son last weekend at Ducks ‘n Dogs. Originally planned to join local friends, but things didn’t work out, so we ventured on our own. Being new here, we were uncertain about what to expect. The team exceeded our expectations—welcoming atmosphere, fantastic food, and memorable hunts. Despite having only a few kids there during our hunt, Randy, especially, connected well with my son, spending time chatting and playing pool between hunts. Randy’s friendly rivalry even led to a near hat forfeit! Chris, our guide for both days, showcased impressive knowledge and genuine passion for his work. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Already planning our next trip!
Went down for the past 2 years and was going to go this year, but the owner just cancelled my hunt (less than 2 weeks out). He had assumed that the other people I had been down in the past with were also returning, however I was the only one who had sent a deposit in. Instead of keeping up with things and verifying who he had received reservation deposits from, he cancels a 3 time return customer, stating that he "could not leave any beds unattended". I understand the need to fill all spots, but he just cut himself out of a loyal customer this year and for every year to come. Very poor business practice. Who does this? Don't try to plan and book a hunt with Ducks-n-Dogs as you too could have your hunt cancelled at the last minute due to Randy's poor planning. Website is also misleading, stating "Transportation to and from the blinds is provided by our Polaris crew cabs or 4-Wheelers." Yes this is true but only after you've had to drive your own vehicle 30-45 minutes to the location. The side-by-sides take you the last 200-300 yards. He has 1 good blind that he rotates groups of hunters in and out of for 1 morning only (provided it's not frozen and can't be hunted). The rest of the time, you're left hunting blinds were seeing 10-15 ducks is a good day.
I have been hunting with Randy and his crew at Ducks n Dogs for 15+ years. I’ve brought clients, son, son in law, friends, and recently my 11 year old grandson. Started out hunting a 3 day trip. The last several years I make 3-5 trips a year to hunt with Randy. Sometimes we kill ducks, sometimes we don’t. The service and professionalism at Ducks n Dogs is always “Top Shelf”. I have and will continue to recommend Ducks n Dogs as a duck hunting destination.
Do not miss this experience! This is a very special place to go for southern hospitality, food and duck hunting. Possibly the only time in my life I’ve ever went hunting after a tornado skirted by and killed (6) man limit of ducks! They work to make you have every opportunity to be successful. I was blessed to be able to figure out that I had hunted with Randy almost 30 years ago! That will be a memory for me forever. Our group had a successful time from ducks to geese. So on Behalf of the Coe and Sterling group…..Thanks to each and everyone we ate, prayed, laughed and hunted with….Thank you!
The lodge was fantastic. We had some bad weather but these folks made it worth it! Randy and Mrs. Cindy were very friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. We will be back next year!
