Too long didn’t read?- Staff:awesome Food:amazing Facility:clean Operations: organized Service: great Enjoyment: definitely Booked 2 full day deer hunts opening weekend 2024. Even with the multiple phones call to Mr Brian Herndon and the million questions asked and answered throughly, I was hesitant because of the reviews. But as soon as I opened the door of the clubhouse that worry was washed away. Fede Greeted us and made us feel right at home. While this was a huge facility, the family was a big part of this. I was greeted by Mrs Jeanne Herndon shortly after coming in followed by Mr. Brian Herndon and then being taken care of by his son Mr. Lake throughout the whole stay. I am a very green hunter and they never once made me feel embarrassed about asking questions, if anything they welcomed it. They did offer rifles and shotguns if needed. There was an area to sight in rifles and bows. The clean blinds were well thought out, fully functional, and plentiful. Brother in law and I were expecting to be forced into one blind. We appreciated them separating us to increase our chances. Drop offs and pickups were organized and efficient even though it was walking distance. Blinds were never far away and marked paths were easy to follow. The Arkansas sunrise and sunsets are beautiful. No matter how the day went, I came back to an AMAZING meal. The food here is top notch. Some of the older hunters said they had some of the best food they have ever had here and they have had A LOT of good food. I whole heartedly agree. I felt the longer I stayed the harder it was for me to leave. Don’t be concerned about being fed, be prepared for some finger licking food. We were lucky and grateful to have some of the smoked deer meat! I want to bring my family back just to enjoy their food. The facility was very clean and had a lot of amenities to enjoy. There was a fire pit area for when we just wanted to sit while enjoying the weather, the tv area with the comfy recliners to enjoy the football game, along with the pool tables and games for enjoyment. They gave me all the best spots and opportunity to harvest my own deer short of parading one on a leash. I want to be back for the duck hunts. (Bucks AND ducks) All in all, they have made a lifetime hunter out of me and I plan on being back for more.
The lodging was excellent, the food was awesome, transported to and from deer blind, and furnished all amenities of deer processing! Such a great place for all hunting families! Definitely a refreshing and great trip! Look forward to our return! Wayne & Julie
I hunted this outfit in December 2023. Very nice lodge. Meals were fantastic thanks to Fee Fee and Roger (the master at smoking meat). They have some of the nicest blind setups I've seen. The ducks hadn't come in yet in good numbers but, there were epic numbers of geese. We were scheduled for 4 days, morning duck and afternoon geese. On day 2, it was apparent that we were forgotten by the guides for the afternoon geese hunt and left behind at the lodge. Despite alerting the owner and his top guy at 1pm, nothing was done to take us out even though there was plenty of time. We sat in full gear out front until 4pm. The owner (Brian) never came out to see if we were taken care of. Never heard an apology from him. He made the young guide apologize who made an understandable mistake. There was no excuse for the owner not to correct the oversight at 1pm. Never did meet the owner the entire stay. This outfit appears to rely on very young guides too much. Even though there were epic geese numbers around, these young guides had no idea where they were going to be. In the 3 hunts, not even one bird was shot. The last straw was on the morning I left. I didn't even get to take home any of the birds I shot in the mornings. Another apparent oversight even though I started asking the evening before and only got redirected to someone else. Very disappointing and expensive trip to Arkansas!
Hunted with this outfit twice this year. Opening 2 days and middle of January. Very poorly organized. Guides never came to talk with us. First hunt our blind saw 3 ducks in 2 days. Second hunt we hunted right before snowstorm. One duck was seen. 52 hunters in camp 2 ducks killed. We left our 3 day hunt after the first day. In my opinion the owner and the workers are very good people, they are just stretched to thin.
Big creek ducks and bucks is absolutely awesome. Great food and great hunting. I would absolutely recommend visiting these guys for all your hunting needs.
